Individual Therapy.

I realize, both personally and professionally, that life has a way of challenging the fundamentals to who we are; our set of values, belief systems, and even the ways in which we deal with stressful circumstances. It goes without saying that sometimes our own sense of resilience and self-empowerment wanes, making us more susceptible to heightened levels of intolerable emotions that goes beyond what we can handle- that’s where I hope to come in and help!

Through taking time to really listen to your story, my desire is to not only help you get “unstuck” but to learn, together, how you got emotionally derailed in the first place. As a therapist, my desire is to create a safe space for your emotional pain each time we meet. You do not have to navigate the stresses of life alone, nor should you have to.

Christian Counseling

Maybe you’ve been wrestling with your faith, not sure how it fits into the narrative of your life. Maybe you’ve experienced an element of trauma/emotional injury within the context of church or perhaps you’re just someone who values your relationship with God profoundly and finds it important to include this sacred part of you in your work towards healing. Whatever the case may be, your faith is in safe hands with me.

(Important Disclaimer: While I do identify myself as a Christian therapist, I am not a biblical counselor. What this means is that my job is to simply explore relationship and meaning making with you, not to tell you what is right or wrong in your own interpretation of theology. My mission is to be curious with you, not to judge or shame you.)

Somatic Trauma Therapy.

You might be wondering, what is Somatic trauma therapy? The word “Soma” is derived from the  Greek language, “body- the living organism in its wholeness.” Our bodies first hold and respond to trauma and distressing situations (as well as pleasurable ones) before the mind can interpret/make sense of it. To learn to understand why we freeze up when we are reminded of something traumatic, why our shoulders get tense when we feel anxious and overwhelmed, why we feel a “pit in our gut” when we feel scared or even ashamed, why we might hunch over in a closed posture when we feel insecure or intimidated. I find that greater elements of healing are achieved when we bring the story of our body into conversation. Working uniquely with the body through somatic practices in session while interweaving dialogue as it pertains to your emotional and thinking world, is a sliver of what you might anticipate in my work with you as a trained/certified somatic therapist.
